“I love to study clouds and the way their colors shift as they move through the atmosphere.” Carrie Bernauer grew up in the southeast corner of Kansas, spending countless, idyllic hours roaming the pastures of family farms, fields and creeks in the Verdigris Valley. Over the years she has taken art classes ranging from drawing and painting to wood working and stained glass. After retiring from a 30-year career in market research she rediscovered her oil paints and brushes. Carrie’s paintings feature the rolling hills, grasses and big skies of our wide-open prairies. She considers the fields of her childhood and the Flint Hills her inspiration.
