Monika Teal - Artist Bio

 

 Monika Teal’s education includes a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in Art, as well as studying art for three years in Seattle at the New School of Visual Concepts and the Burnley School of Art ( now Seattle Art Institute.)

Teal’s work has been shown in museums and galleries across the US, and in Europe. Her forty years as a professional artistincludes exhibitions in Germany, Switzerland, France, Italy, Hungary and Romania. Teal has done artist residencies from Vermont to Florida and was invited by the Cuban Union of Writers and Artists to do an artist residency in Santiago de Cuba, exhibiting as the first American woman in Santiago de Cuba since Fidel Castro.  She is the proud recipient of the North Carolina Visual Arts Fellowship, andhas received several other honors and awards.  She has also taught as an artist/teacher adjunct at two North Carolina universities and have even taught art in prisons.

For the past ten years, Monika Teal has lived as a double citizen in Bern, Switzerland, where she maintains a studio and works full time as an artist.  Her most recent exhibitions include Paris, France and Como , Italy.
