Believe KC

Believe Kansas City is a grassroots, AT&T employee driven campaign focused on supporting youth suicide prevention and mental wellness efforts through technology, innovation and partnerships in the greater

Kansas City metro area.  The initiative is an extension of AT&T BELIEVES,  AT&T’s larger company-wide initiative designed to create positive change in local communities by tackling issues impacting those communities. More information about Believe Kansas City HERE.

Eligibility Area

STUDENT ELIGIBILITY: KC Metro Area Middle and High School students in the following counties:  KANSAS - Johnson, Wyandotte, Douglas, Leavenworth  and MISSOURI - Clay, Platte, Jackson, Cass.

Info For Schools:

·       There are no fees for schools or students to participate in in this project.

·       This may be an individual or class project.  Students may submit designs independently or as part of a class project.

·       Students whose designs are selected as one of the 8 finalists will be awarded $250 each.

·       Students whose designs are selected as the top 2, will be awarded $500 each.

·      Middle and High Schools in the eligible geography of the project will have the opportunity to receive a reproduction of their favorite banner!

Schools will have the opportunity to select a favorite from the designs that have been identified as “finalists” to hang in their school. Schools will also be able to choose from a variety of available sizes.  The project sponsors will pay all production and delivery fees. The top 2 ordered murals will be awarded $500 each and their mural design will be produced on an outdoor mural in the metro area in fall of 2020.

  • Artwork should inspire hope, healing and positive energy;

  • Design must be an original, one of a kind, new work;

  • Inclusion of inspiring words and bold colors should be used in your design;

  • Digitally created designs and typography are allowed;

  • Photograph or scan of original design in submission is acceptable (.jpg, or .pdf files preferred);

  • Artist must provide any/all permissions and fee for use of any copyrighted elements;

  • Design must be suitable for all ages;

  • Images that are vulgar, hateful or discriminatory in the sole judgment of the competition sponsors will not be considered.

For Students

  • All students in Middle and High schools in the metro area (Kansas Counties - Johnson, Wyandotte, Douglas, Leavenworth and Missouri Counties - Johnson, Clay, Platte, Jackson, Cass) are eligible to submit designs to this open call for art.  There is no fee to participate. 

  • Submitted artwork will be eligible to be selected as one of the 8 finalists. Finalists will be paid directly $250 each.

  • Students who’s designs are selected as the top 2, will be paid directly $500 each.

  • You may create your design using software or using traditional techniques such as drawing, painting, etc.;

  • You may participate in this project individually or as part of a class assignment;

  • Use of words that inspire hope and healing should appear on your design;

  • To participate, please deliver original artwork or email high quality images in your submission.  Digital Images must be submitted in either .jpg or .pdf format.  If you have difficulty with the technology, please contact the program Sponsors for direction, we are here to help you;

  • All submitted artwork will be part of an ARTHEALS exhibition at InterUrban ArtHouse in February.  Event dates and invitation to receptions will be provided closer to the exhibition period.
