The Arts are Alive in Johnson County

Did you know that Johnson County ranks in the top 4% for arts and culture participation nationally?

Johnson County is home to as many as 1482 artists and 1,936 arts-related businesses that employ 7,414 people.

Creating A Place

The core of our work is to develop, renovate and re-purpose a decommissioned Post Office sorting facility located in Northeast Johnson County, Kansas.  The facility will be a creative hub for artists, arts-based businesses, creative industries and the community at large.   The Downtown Historic Overland Park area is a 25-block area of vibrant shopping, creative services and restaurants featuring more than 280 locally owned and operated venues and the popular Farmers Market.

The Building

We took ownership of the property on November 1st with ZERO DEBT!  We continue to fundraise in order to make the necessary improvements to the property in order to occupy it in the summer of 2017. Make a donation today!

ArtHouse Offices & Arts Programming Space will include:

  • Classroom
  • Artist Studios & Exhibition Space
  • Loading dock conversion to community “Front Porch”
  • Performance and outdoor arts festival space
  • Cafe/Coffee Shop
  • Creative Co-working space
  • We will retain current rental space at 8001 Conser with 10 studios

Affordable, Sustainable, Inclusive
The ArtHouse is creating affordable space that is designed to be self-sustaining within three years.   We have created an arts incubator which allows our studio artists and creative professionals a space in which to defray costs through cooperative marketing and programming.  We regularly facilitate partnerships with regional civic sector and local businesses, merchants, schools, and residents.
