Art Heals for Memory Care

Please join Art Heals for monthly drop in sessions designed for caregivers and their loved ones dealing with issues related to aging and memory loss. Each session will offer an art history lesson relating to a specific artist, and an opportunity to create art relating to the featured artist. These sessions do not require any previous art experience. Art therapist, Sheri Jacobs has worked as an art therapist with the elderly population for twenty years.

Elizabeth “Grandma” Layton, a native Kansan, became well known for her blind contour drawings. Her later life obsession with art led her to international notoriety and served as a catalyst for literally curing her life long, debilitating depression. This session will explore her art, mental health history, and story. Participants will be introduced to the blind contour drawing technique.

$10.00 cover charge per person to cover costs of materials.
