Webinar: Protecting Your Creations: The Uses and Abuses of Copyright Law

Fractured Atlas is pleased to announce that Jordan Fletcher of KG Law is offering a free webinar on Protecting Your Creations: The Uses and Abuses of Copyright Law on June 7th at 7:30pm ET. Jordan is an attorney at KG Law - a boutique intellectual property, litigation and commercial law firm in New York City. He advises creative professionals, artists, and businesses regarding copyright, trademark, entertainment and general contract matters. Jordan is passionate about supporting artists and protecting their work, and speaks regularly on legal matters relating to creative fields. He also handles all aspects of dispute resolution. His writing on legal issues has been published in leading news outlets in the United States and Canada. Jordan's partner, Erica Fae, is a filmmaker, theatre-maker, and actress, and has been a member of Fractured Atlas for more than five years.

Companies are stealing your content. The internet is stealing your content. And no one is trying to hide it. Companies know that it can be daunting for independent artists to challenge them over copyright infringement. Users of the digital ether don't know -- or don't care -- that creative works aren't free for use by everyone. As a result, other people are profiting off the things you've made.

This webinar will discuss what copyright law is and how you can use it to protect yourself and your original work. Topics to be covered include: why copyright registration is important and how to do it, owning and monetizing your creative output, and what you can do if you discover your work has been used without permission.

The online session is 60 minutes in length and is presented by Jordan Fletcher..

When: Tuesday, June 7th, 2016, 7:30 - 8:30pm EDT
