Reception: Who Does She Think She Is?

This group art exhibition of 50 artists celebrates women and explores the unique experiences and challenges women artists in America face as they bring together family, careers, and artistic fulfillment. In addition to the opening reception, there will be multiple programs, at different locations across the KC metro area, associated with the exhibition:

Friday, March 15th, 5-8pm: Opening Reception at InterUrban ArtHouse

Tuesday, March 19
The Persistent Muse: Women, Art, and Activism
Time: 12:00 – 1:30 p.m.

Location: UMKC Miller Nichols Library, Room 325, 500 E. 51st St.
Come have lunch and hear from a panel of women artist who are using their art to make social change in our community. Free lunch provided. Space is limited. Please RSVP to umkc-womens-center@umkc.edu or 8116-235-1638. Co-sponsored by the InterUrban ArtHouse.


Sunday, March 31st
Listening Room: She Thinks She's a Tapestry: Weaving Songs and Stories
Time: 6-830pm

Join us for this live performance by local singer/songwriter Joy Zimmerman as she explores themes from her own life and the lives of other women. Joy's stories and songs will include music from "To the Girl", her soon-to-be-released album. Doors open at 6, show starts at 630. Tickets: $15

Sacred Circus Aerial Performance Showcase:
Time: 630-730pm

Aerial performers from Sacred Circus and Voler: Theives of Flight bring 2 nights of wonder, amazement, and just a hint of danger to the InterUrban ArtHouse. Tickets: $15

April 11th
Artist Salon: The State of Women in the Arts –
Time: 6:30-8pm
An evening of networking and conversation with local women artists, educators, and advocates on the state of women in the arts. Light refreshments served. Location: InterUrban ArtHouse.

April 14th

Listening Room: Curses and Charms

5-7pm - Curses & Charms: A Further Account of the Trials of Womyn with wild tales told through poetry and music. Join us for a magical night of poetry and music as only Emery Diercks, Teri Quinn & Poet Jen Harris can bring you. Doors open at 4:30, show starts at 5.
